21 years ago, I bought an ordinary jade plant at the .99c in a 4 in pot. This plant grew a bit too big on my kitchen window sill so I put it outside. Got bigger trimmed a lot became a little mini tree looking. Did do much the first years but started to get more plants from yard sales because I notice the plants doing well on the yard in my neiborhood. I figure they will be fine on my yard as well so I purchase a few more and notice other people had similar plants. But I wanted color and asked around and got more different plants didn’t know the names but I talked to other people on how to care for them and notice some didn’t do well and some were doing great. Finally I realize succulents doing great so I focus on this type of plants. The care seem simple enough, but having small children playing on the yard gave me the time to watch them while I pruned the plants. Today those plants are still under my care in the front yard. Having very little time to care for any plant but I had a purpose since my health issues kept me on a chair sometimes. Feeling frustrated because felt I was not contributing enough with helping the cost of living.
I got very ill, and my lack of movement forced me to look up close at all my plants with very little sleep I research a bit more of care of this succulents. The father of my kids made me a small wooden chair with wheels this allowed me to get close and move to all plants including moving them around
Felling useful again was amazing and plants started to thrive and leaves growing tiny cute babies, it felt like a thank you to me. Feeling I was doing more than cooking, cleaning, and driving the kids to school. Feeling so much better this plants kept getting bigger and prettier. This seem silly to think plants have some sort of way to say thank you but every time I notice them thriving.
My experience has been a long one with succulents but I still feel its so much to learn. Today I feel my stress has come down a lot more because this cuties make me happy to see them. I do sell some but I notice when I become attach to a specific plant I hide them. lol I do put it back and yes I will sell it if the opportunity arises but for a little longer I enjoy them.
